This presentation provides an overview of forensic injury assessment, focusing on sharp force trauma, blunt force trauma, and injuries commonly associated with sexual assault and strangulation. Through case reviews, participants will examine injury characteristics, documentation considerations, and the forensic significance of findings in clinical context. Emphasis is placed on objective, evidence-based evaluation. 1.5 CE will be provided at the end of course, following completion of the course survey.


Objectives:

  • Review injury definitions by class- blunt force or sharp force
  • Discuss sexual assault specific injuries and normal variants
  • Discuss strangulation specific injuries and normal variants
  • Apply injury terms via case reviews
