This presentation provides healthcare providers with essential knowledge and practical skills to recognize, assess, and respond to patients experiencing human trafficking. Through case-based discussion and application of best practices, attendees will strengthen their ability to identify trafficking concerns, reduce re-traumatization, and provide patient-centered care that prioritizes safety, dignity, and informed decision-making. At completion, 1.5 CEs will be provided.

Objectives:

  1. Recognize the prevalence of human trafficking and identify red flags and other clinical manifestations of this vulnerable patient population.
  2. Define key terms used by traffickers and trafficked patients.
  3. Explain trauma-informed and evidence-based care and protocols for identified victims of human trafficking.
  4. Communicate effectively with other healthcare providers and multidisciplinary partners, including collaboration with resources and referrals to Human Trafficking organizations.
